Research In Motion (RIM) is preparing to release a new BlackBerry smartphone that namely the BlackBerry Dakota. BlackBerry Dakota smartphone is just like Blackberry Bold design including full QWERTY keyboard and touch pad controller, but with new platform the new BlackBerry 6.1 OS. BlackBerry 6.1 Operating System features OpenGL-ES 2.0, geo-fencing location APIs and supports Magnetometer and Digital compass APIs.
The Dakota BlackBerry smartphone is equipped with 2.8-inch VGA capacitive touchscreen with 640×480 pixels resolution, 768MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a 5 MP camera with image stabilization, flash capable of recording 720p HD video and flash, microSD card slot for memory expansion, Accelerometer, proximity sensor and a full Qwerty keyboard with touch pad controller. but the processor is still unknown at this moment.
BlackBerry Dakota smartphone also offers 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, supports Near Field Communication (NFC), 3G mobile hotspot, HTML browser and works with quad-band 850, 900, 1800, 1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 850, 1900, 2100 UMTS/HSDPA. Unfortunately there’s no information on pricing or release date at this moment.
