Dell Thunder Review, Specs and Features

Posted by

Dell is best known for its affordable PCs, but it is flexing its muscles in the tablet and Android smartphone markets. Now Dell has release a new smartphone set to hit the market, named Dell Thunder.

Dell Thunder powered with a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, a 4.1-inch WVGA OLED touch screen with curved glass, 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera with 720p video capture, Geo-tagging, face detection and Flash 10.1.

This Dell device also comes with Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, HSDPA, Digital compass, Social networking integration, a 1,400 mAh battery and run Android 2.1 with a custom UI called Stage.

The Dell Thunder smartphone has hard horizontal lines, sharp corners and the screen looks huge. There’s a heavily custom Dell “Stage” UI on top, which seems much different (and classier) than what we’ve seen on the Streak or Aero. With the dell logo on the back it does feel more like a mini computer than your average handset.

Overall the Dell Thunder sounds pretty similar to the Dell Streak 5-inch tablet, although it will clearly be marketed as a phone and include a more traditional phone UI. The Thunder smartphone will be release on AT&T in Q4, but now it is suggested a version with AWS support could go to T-Mobile and a dual-mode phone could indicate a Verizon launch.
