LG Optimus GT540 Review, Specs and Price

LG Company, a global leader and technology innovator in mobile phone, has launched of an Android smartphone, named LG Optimus GT540. The LG  GT540 may be aimed at users on a budget, but its build quality and design haven’t suffered because of this.

Optimus GT540 is powered by a Qualcomm processor running at 600MHz, Android 1.6, 256 MB of RAM, 3.0 inch TFT resistive touchscreen display, 320 x 480 pixels, a built-in accelerometer,  Bluetooth, a digital compass, 130 MB internal memory, 1500mAh battery, and support up to 32 GB microSD cards. the LG Optimus GT540 is also a reasonable multimedia smartphone. It boasts a standard 3.5mm headphone hack, has DivX and Xvid file support and a 3D image and video viewer. For Connectivity is WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, quad-band GSM/EDGE, 3G, HSDPA and HSUPA.

There are the touch sensitive Menu and Back keys and the Call, Home and End buttons. The right side of the phone sports the camera key, the search key and the microUSB port. The left side houses the volume rocker while the top holds the 3.5 mm audio jack. The physical camera button is a nice touch and there is also a quick search button and external volume controls.

At 3-megapixels, the LG GT540 snapper just can’t compare with some of LG’s older phones, such as the Arena but supports geo-tagging, auto face-tagging and face-to-action technology to allow users to create and share multimedia content from the phone. The sensor and the lack of a flash are both real failings and mean that this is a peeper for use during day time or in bright rooms only.

The LG Optimus GT540 sports quite a nice design. The phone is relatively small by smartphone standards measuring just 54mm wide, and the curved edges make it feel slimmer than its 13mm thickness would suggest and a weight of 115.5 gms. LG has used a very convincing brushed metal finish on the front and rear of the phone and you only realise it’s actually made entirely from plastic by taking the battery cover off for closer inspection. It is quite sturdy and is available in two colors, black and white. For an entry-level smartphone, the LG GT540 Optimus demands a high price for what it offers.
