Review: Panasonic Eluga Android Smartphone

Panasonic just announced their powerful ultralight Android smartphone that designed for Europe Market, called as Panasonic Eluga. Comes with sylish design with super-thin frame at 7.8mm and up to 66% display area ratio, the Eluga smartphone deliver great viewing and multimedia experience.

It’s good loking device. With ergonomic design, smooth body and water resistant plus dust proof that meet an IP57 certificate and promises can survive in the water at a depth of up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes, users can enjoy outdoor activities without need to fear water or dust. Measures in 123.0 x 62.0 x 7.8 mm with weighs at at 103g, you can slip the handset into your pocket or small purse and bring it whrever you go.

Under the hood, Panasonic Eluga will be powered by a Texas Instruments OMEP 4430 dual-core central processing unit clocked at 1.0GHz and paired with 1GB of RAM plus running on Android Version 2.3.5 Gingerbread as the operating system provide stable device for daily tasking and multimedia. According product page, it will get updated to Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) from Spring 2012.

It will be built in with 8 GB of integrated memory and offer great image quality with 4.3-inch OLED QHD full touch screen display that can produce maximum resolutions at 960 x 540 pixel. It’s has lower resolutions than LG Optimus Vu that support 1024 x 768 pixels or Samsung Galaxy Note that support 1280 x 800 pixels, but the company claims if the 4.3 inch smartphone will be deliver vivid colours, enhanced readability and good sharpness for video streaming, playing games or web browsing.

In term of connectivity and port, you will find MicroUSB connector, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, DLNA capable, NFC support to connect with other NFC-enabled Android phones and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Works on GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900 with support 3G network which offer HSDPA 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76 Mbps, the Eluga Android smartphone will be powered with a 1,150 mAh LI-Ion battery that will give users up to 300 hours of standby time and up to 240 minutes talk time.

Other features are Accelerometer, G-sensor, Ambient light sensor, GPS receiver and Eco Mode to save energy and achieve a longer battery life. “With the launch of the ELUGA, we’re aiming to prove it is possible to deliver style, function, form, and the very best underlying technology, all in a competitively-priced package,” said Toshiya Matsumura, General Manager, Head of Mobile Communications, Panasonic System Communications Europe. However, there is no information about price, but the company has confirmed if Panasonic Eluga Android smartphone will be start shipping in Europe at April 2012.
