Samsung and MetroPCS has already confirmed their first LTE handset to be the Samsung Craft. Craft Smartphone will use the LTE network only for data access, while the CDMA voice network will still be used for voice calls.
The Samsung LTE Craft features a 3.2 inch WVGA (800×480) resolution AMOLED touch display, Wi-Fi radio, dual-mode CDMA EVDO/LTE support, microSDHC expansion slot, 3.2 megapixel camera with flash and video capture, full HTML browser, Bluetooth 2.1, and GPS.
LTE is a 4G technology that is theoretically much faster than WiMAX with 100Mbps peak speeds compared to about 10Mbps. Samsung Craft comes with a horizontal-sliding QWERTY keyboard and will be launch in the Dallas area with price $300.
MetroPCS also offers two new service plans for the carrier starting price at $55 with all taxes and fees included, which features unlimited voice, directory assistance, data, messaging, email access (personal/email) and use of MetroNavigator along with Loopt access and The $60 plan includes access to the carrier’s new MetroSTUDIO multimedia service.
