Samsung Germany has just unveiled their up coming Android smartphone that has IP67 standard certification, called Samsung Galaxy Xcover. The Galaxy Xcover is the first Galaxy rugged Android smartphone that can submerged at 1 meter under water for up to 30 minutes. Samsung Xcover comes with Galaxy series features and extreme durability for outdoor use, like mountain biking or geocaching.

As the rugged device, the Galaxy Xcover smartphone is protected against dust, shock resistant, dirt and can operate under any weather or extreme work environment. Like the other Samsung Galaxy series, it’s features built-in GPS receiver, Digital Compas, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Document editor (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF) and Social networking integration to keep in touch or update status in you favorite social network site.

For the heart of the device, Samsung Xcover Android smartphone will be ships with an 800MHz processor paired with 512 of RAM, a 3.65 inch scratch-resistant display of tempered glass, a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocuse and LED flash, a secondary VGA front facing camera for video calls and support microSD up to 32GB for external memory. In term f connectivity, the Galaxy Xcover is packs with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3.5mm jack, microUSB 2.0, bluetooth with A2DP and Wi-Fi hotspot.

Samsung Galaxy Xcover is pre loaded with Google Mobile service (Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Picasa integration), Li-Ion battery and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread for operating system. Of course the Samsung Xcover also has access to Android market for download more than 250.000 apps. Samsung Xcover smartphone is quad-band GSM and dual-band UMTS / HSDPA that offer transfer rate of up to 7.2 Mbit/s. There is no informations about price for this moment, but the Galaxy Xcover Android smartphone will be available in October, 2011.
