Sony Ericsson has announced their first PlayStation Certified Android smartphone, called Sony Ericsson Xperia Play in United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Russia, India and Portugal. For US market, the Xperia Play will be available this spring in Verizon Wireless. The SE Xperia Play is expected has starting price at €500 (around $707) with unlocked and no contract.

The Sony Xperia Play is based on the gaming expertise of Sony Computer Entertainment with combined betwen Sony’s PSP line of handheld consoles and Android smart phone. The device is comes with the “human curvature” design philosophy with two circular analog pads reside in the centre and four iconic PlayStation buttons sit on the right-hand side with direction buttons on the left of the game pad and glossy plastic back.

This gaming smartphone is powered by 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 chipset with an Adreno 205 graphics subsystem, 4inch TFT  LCD display with 480×854 resolution and the ability to show 16 million colors, 512 MB RAM, 5 MP web camera with support 2592х1944 pixels, autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, image stabilization, Front-facing camera (VGA) for video call, 8GB internal memory, microSD up to 32GB and runs on Android 2.3 OS (Gingerbread).

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play also boasts stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, 3G, DLNA, support Wi-Fi hotspot, microUSB 2.0 port, GPS with A-GPS support, Proximity sensor for auto turn-off, Digital compass, Flash Lite support, 3.5 mm audio jack and Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery provide up to up to 425 hours for standby time or up to 8 hours 25 min for talk time.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play smartphone also pre loaded with Sony Ericsson Timescape, social network aplications such as facebook, twitter, Google Talk, and more than 60 games from Gameloft, Electronic Arts, Glu Mobile, Sony Computer Entertainment like Need for Speed, Galaxy on Fire 2, Backstab, Assassins Creed Altair’s Chronicles HD, etc. Dimensions of the Xperia Play gaming phone are 119 x 62 x 16 mm with weight 175 g.
