Earlier this year, Verizon Wireless has launched a 4.5 inch LG Spectrum with 4G LTE support and now the carrier also officially release the next generation of the smartphone, called as the Spectrum 2. Verizon’s Spectrum 2 also known as LG VS930 comes with better configuration than the older versions for better users experience, such as larger memory space, longer battery life and a 0.2 inch larger display, as well as heavier than the predecessor.
If you are looking inside, LG Spectrum 2 is has similar configuration and design like LG Optimus LTE 2, but with larger display. Under the hood, both of them has same processor with a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon dual core processor that clocked at 1.5GHZ, paired with 1GB of RAM and will be preloaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the Operating system. It’s a little disappointing because there are many smartphone that has built in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, even the latest Nexus series have a Android 4.2 as the operating system (We expect LG will be release the updated soon).
Comes with a sleek bezel design with just 0.36 inches and has comfortable grip with weighing at 148 g (5.22 oz), LG Spectrum 2 (VS930) is a heavier than other high end smartphone, but its still fell light and comfortable in your palm of hand, as well a can fit perfectly in your pocket. The 4.7 inch True HD AH–IPS touch screen with multi touch support and Corning Gorilla Glass display delivers 16.7 Million Color with maximum resolution display of 280 x 720 pixels. Of course, you can also share the video, photos or games to other compatible device or HDTV, thanks to DLNA and TV-out (via MHL A/V link) features.
On the front, the Verizon’s LG Spectrum bring a 1.3 MP for video calls and video recording, while on the back, there is a 8.0 Mega Pixel rear facing auto focus camera with LED Flash, face detection and image stabilization for capture photos and support 1080p HD video recording at 30fps. Other features are a 3.5mm Audio Jack, GPS with A-GPS support, micro USB port, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Verizon’s 4G LTE support.
Reportedly, the Lithium Ion 2150 mAh battery will be provides up to 10 hours of talk time or up to 480 hours of standby time. According to Verizon Wireless, the Spectrum 2 is now available for order for price of $99.99 with 2 year commitment or $499.99 without contract. Yeah, Verizon LG Spectrum 2 is $100 cheaper than the gorgeous Nexus 4, but if you have more budget and looking a higher performance and lighter device, we think you should take a look at the Google Nexus 4.
