Apple has released the latest firmware for the Iphone and Ipod Touch version 3.1.3. This update which supposedly patches up a couple of security flaws. Version 3.1.3 should help with app crashes from maliciously crafted mp4 files, crashes from viewing maliciously crafted TIFF images, improved handling in certain USB control messages to prevent someone with physical access to the phone from accessing private data using the device’s recovery mode, and a pair of patches for WebKit that deal with HTML Mail messages and maliciously crafted FTP servers.
IPhone unlock tool is also compatible with 3GS iPhone or 2G iPod Touch so it can directly upgrade to iPhone OS 3.1 without having to wait for the iPhone that have been packaged with iPhone OS 3.1 from the vendor.
Last week, iPhone OS 3.2 was revealed as part of the new multi-touch iPad. For now, the operating system upgrade is for the iPad hardware only, which is scheduled to launch before the end of March.iPhone OS 3.2 offers a number of enhancements over the current operating system, including a home screen that can be viewed either horizontally or vertically. It is not yet known what additional features in the iPad version of the iPhone OS could show up in the iPhone or iPod touch.
The update 3.1.3 is available via iTunes when you plug in your device. As always, the iPhone SDK includes Xcode, the iPhone simulator, and other tools for developing applications for iPhone and iPod touch. If you want to develop for the iPad, you’ll need to join the $99/year developer program and download the 3.2 SDK instead.
