Google just has announced the first eReader that support Google Books APIs and integrated with the open Google eBooks platform, known as iRiver Story HD form iRiver. The Story HD also integrated with Google’s eBookstore and expected will be release in Target stores nationwide on July 17 at $139.99 for a WiFi-only version.

iRiver Story HD has similar design with Amazon’s Kindle. Powered by an i.MX508 eReader application processor from Freescale Semiconductor for faster page turning, the new iRiver eReader also boast a 6 inch XGA E Ink display with 768×1024 pixels of resolution for a readable experience, 2GB of internal memory, a 38 QWERTY keyboard with way controler for easy searching, USB 2.0 port, wiFi and Lithium Polymer 1800 mAH battery provide read up to 140.000 pages. In term of size, the Google iRiver Story HD eReader measure in 128 x 9 x 204 mm with weight 207 grams.

The Google Books API is open platform, so many publisher will be put their content on Google’s eBookstore. Beside that, if you purchase the Story HD eReader, you can also access more than 3 million titles for free or buy the hundreds of thousands paid titles and than download on your local storage, or you can also read the eBook without download them. Google iRiver Story HD also support eBook files (PDF,EPUB,TXT,FB2,DJVU), Office viewer (PPTx,XLSx, Docs), Comics viewer and Collins Dictionary.
