Toshiba finally launched a new Android tablet PC as promised alternatives to Apple’s iPad tablet in Singapore that called Toshiba AS100/Toshiba Folio 100. Toshiba Folio 100 is a large tablet at moment with 10.1 inch multi-touch widescreen display with 1,024 x 600 pixel. Toshiba claims that AS100 tablet has the capability of supporting four points of concurrent touch.
Toshiba AS100 is powered by Nvidia Tegra 250 Mobile Processor (1GHz), 1GB RAM (Apple iPad memory 256MB), 16GB Flash Disk, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, WLAN (802.11 b/g/n), a 1.3 MP webcam for networking, video conferencing and entertainment, HDMI Video Output To enjoy full HD 1080p video on big screen and runs on the Android OS 2.2. Folio 100 tablet has no issues in playing videos up to 720p in both the MP4 and MOV formats but the media player does not support 1080p videos.
Other Specifications includes DLNA compatible 1 x mini HDMI, 1 x USB 2.0 (client and hub), SD/MMC Card Reader, Supports Adobe Flash 10.1, and Pre-installed with software Toshiba Media Player, Fring, Document to Go, Evernote. AS100 tablet also has a LED light which glows white while charging and yellow while discharging. 6-Cell Lithium Ion battery provides 7 hours (65% web browsing, 10% video playback, 25% standby).
Designed At just weighs 26 ounces and measures 281mm x 181mm x 14mm, Toshiba AS100 is lightweight tablet more than Apple iPad but still feels lighter when held in hand. Along the right side of the device there are numerous ports like memory card slot, headset jack, mini USB port, HDMI port, power port and four touch-sensitive buttons namely back, home, menu and search.
