Japanese company, Panasonic has release of an updated ruggedized tablet version called the Toughbook CF-U1 Ultra rugged tablet. The Toughbook CF-U1 Ultra previous model was announced in 2008.
The Panasonic Toughbook CF-U1 Ultra boasts a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor (instead 1.33GHz Atom Z520), 1GB RAM, a 5.6-inch touch screen with the resolution of 1024×600 pixels, 6000 cd/m2 brightness, and sunlight-viewable, Intel US15W chipset, 64GB SSD (instead of 16GB/32GB, 2GB of RAM (previously 1GB only), 1024MB SDRAM (DDR2) standard, 2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g, Bluetooth 2.1, and pre-installed with Windows 7 OS (with XP downgrade option).
The Toughbook CF-U1 Ultra case is met MIL-STD-810G and IP65, which is filled rubber, durable plastic and magnesium alloy. Toughbook CF-U1 Ultra also has features a fingerprint reader, Gobi2000 mobile broadband (EV-DO and HSPA), 1D/2D barcode scanners, USB 2.0 Ports, and 2 x Hot Swappable Lithium Ion Battery for 9 hrs life.
